We have talented & passionate team of instructors.
Our teachers go through comprehensive in-house teacher trainings to keep the quality of our instructing top notch. All teachers learn skills to break moves down, safe spotting techniques, and skill progressions. We have an in-depth curricullum to build skills step by step and build strength & flexibility as you go. The curricullum has been collated from decades of training from our senior teachers worldwide.

Cher Albrecht
Founder & Head Instructor

Bio

Having a playful spirit, Cher always dreamed of creating an adult playground. She is originally from Los Angeles, CA, where she got her first trapeze around 25 years ago and fell in love. She performed professionally as a singer, dancer, acrobat & stunt woman, yadda yadda, for 15 years in California. She has studied aerial arobatics with top aerialists from around the world, including with several Cirque De Soliel performers. She found herself in Canberra & has decided to put all her awesomeness into creating Aerial Sports. She loves sharing her passion for aerial acrobatics with others.

team2
Jade Redfern-Podger
Silks

BioJade is also full of awesomeness. Her love for aerials, blah blah blah, everything aerials... nothing can stop her. PS. She has a PhD in Science & is really really smart. When she's not in the lab she can be found in the air, working out new combinations & tricks.

team3
Nicole Crandell
Kids/Teens & Hammock

BioNicole's first passion was dancing which started as a young child. She swirled & twirled and joined a Performing Arts school in Sydney which led her to getting her Cert 3 in fitness. She powered her way though gyms & became a pole teacher with FitSista's. She's now a mum of 2, and "part of the furniture" as she puts it, at Aerial Sports, teaching & various other jobs 'round these parts.

team5
Bernard Bru
Trapeze & Teens

Bio

Bernard is our most seasoned trainer & performer – he’s been doing circus since 1978 (don’t worry about the quick maths, he knows his stuff) with 34 years in the air! There’s something about the challenge of growing older & wiser upside down. Bernard teachers static trapeze & teaches for the pleasure of seeing students’ progress. He also makes aerial equipment, mostly trapzese & ropes for lyra. If you haven't had a class yet with Bernard, we highly recomment it. His classes are unique & a blast.

team4
Annie Holland
Cloud Swing

BioAnnie specialises in cloud swing & group acro, and has been performing aerials & ground acro now for a few years. Annie is the happiest when she is moving her body and sharing her love of aerials and acrobatics with others.

team6
Bek Kordas
Lyra & Tumbling

BioBek fell into the circus scene in 2011 when she was studying Theatre/Media in Bathurst, NSW. Having started in gymnastics as a teen, and then specialising in physical theatre at uni, Bek completed her degree which she promptly ditched because circus was way cooler and it just so happened to combine both of the things she loved. Bek specialises in static trapeze and group acro, but has a whole lotta knowledge and skill across most other circus disciplines. Along with moulding the minds and bodies of the next circus generations, Bek is currently studying her Masters of Secondary Teaching.

team7
Jollene Fraser
Kids & Teens, Foundations

BioOur resident entomologist and geneticist / instructor, Jollene teaches aerial acrobatics because she loves helping people challenge themselves and gain confidence in their bodies. She has been doing aerial acrobatics for 6 years and loves sharing the sport with others. “I love the creative expression aerials gives and I love the feeling of challenging my body in ways that make me feel strong and confident.” Jollene has a PhD in entomology and genetics, so it’s no surprise that she loves animals of all kinds – particularly reptiles (EMOJI) – and has two pet bearded dragons.

team8
Emma Bliss
Foundations

BioTeaching and creativity is Emma’s happy place. As well as doing aerial acrobatics for several years now, she teaches kindergarten as her day job and plays the flute! We can’t wait to see how she incorporates the flute to a trapeze routine “Aerial acrobatics has been life changing for me in so many ways! I love how my body has gotten so much stronger and more flexible. It is a great mental exercise too and helps me stay present. I have also made so many incredible friends through Aerial Sports! “I love teaching and I love the feeling of inspiring others and watching their skills and knowledge grow.”

Savannah Gilbert
Kids Classes

BioSavannah fell in love with aerial aerobatics in her early teens. Savannah competes and performs locally, and has competed in Sydney and Newcastle. She trains in lyra, trapeze and silks, but lyra is her favourite. “I love teaching because I get to share my love and passion for circus”. Her passion also sees her going to an arts school, where she learns stage and screen acting, singing and dancing. Savannah’s in her 4th and final year – good luck!

BioGrace joined the Aerial Sports team in 2024 after moving from Newcastle for university. She has been involved in Newcastle’s circus community for 7 years as both a student and a performer, and has coached at Three Rings Aerial for several years. While silks are her main discipline, she also enjoys exploring aerial rope, duo aerials, and partner acrobatics. Grace loves working with people of all ages, teaching some of our kids’, teens’, and adult classes throughout the week. In addition to coaching, Grace helps run our socials! You’ll often see her running around the studio trying to get the perfect shot for Instagram. Currently, Grace is completing a double degree in Visual Arts and Political Science at ANU. Outside of aerials, she loves painting, surfing, and spending time with her friends.
